Apple Cider Recipes

Basic Brandied Cider Drink
Serve in a chilled cocktail glass.
2½-3 ounces cider of choice
2½-3 ounces complementary flavored brandy
Slices or wedges of complementary fresh fruit
Combine the cider and brandy in a shaker half-filled
with fresh ice; shake vigorously. Strain the mixed
drink into the prepared serving glass. Garnish with
the fresh fruit.

Basic Brandied Cider Punch
2-3 cups cider of choice
1-½ cups club soda or lemon-lime soda
¼-½ cup brandy or flavored brandy of choice
¼-1/3 cup orange-flavored liqueur
Sugar or powdered sugar to taste
Fresh ice
Slices of complementary fresh fruit
Combine the cider, soda, brandy, and liqueur in a
large pitcher or punch bowl; stir gently only enough
to dissolve the sugar. Add fresh ice and the fruit
slices.

Basic Cider Margarita
Serve in a chilled margarita glass rimmed with cinnamonsugar.
2 orange slices
Fresh crushed ice
4-5 ounces cider of choice
1-1½ ounces tequila or flavored tequila
1-1½ ounces orange-flavored liqueur
Cinnamon stick
Slices of complementary fresh fruit
Place 2 orange slices in the bottom of the prepared
serving glass, and top with crushed ice. Add
the cider, tequila, and liqueur; stir gently to mix.
Garnish with the cinnamon stick and fruit slices.

Basic Warm Cider Drink
Serve in a mug or coffee glass.
1 teaspoon powdered sugar
1 teaspoon ground cinnamon
5-6 ounces cider of choice
2-2½ ounces complementary flavored schnapps
Cinnamon stick
Slice or wedge of complementary fresh fruit
Combine the powdered sugar and cinnamon in a
shallow dish. Wet the rim of the serving mug or
glass with a small amount of cider, and dip it into
the sugar-cinnamon mixture.
Combine the remaining cider and the schnapps
in a small saucepan, and place over low heat
until very warm (do not boil). Pour the hot mixture
into the prepared mug or glass. Garnish with the
cinnamon stick and fresh fruit.

Cinnamon-Cider Martini
Serve in a chilled martini glass.
1½-2 ounces cinnamon-flavored vodka or gin
¼-½ ounce cider of choice
Slice of complementary fresh fruit
Combine the vodka or gin and
cider in a shaker half-filled with
fresh ice; shake vigorously. Strain
the mixed drink into the prepared
serving glass, and garnish with the
fresh fruit.

Hot Cider-Flavored Rum
Serve in a warm mug or coffee glass.
1 cup cider of choice
1-1½ tablespoons white or brown
sugar
1-2 teaspoons butter
2-3 ounces rum or flavored rum
Cinnamon stick
Combine the cider, sugar, and butter in a small
saucepan. Slowly bring the mixture to a simmer
over low heat; simmer for 10 minutes. Remove
from the heat, and add the rum. Pour the drink
into the prepared mug or glass, and garnish with a
cinnamon stick.
